London is calling...

... and I'm picking up!! Yes, I am going to London at the end of this month!! I'm so excited about it :) Going for a weekend full of fun, friends and touristy stuff :D Can't wait!! If anyone has any tips of what to see and where to go, you're more than welcome to leave a comment... (Even if you don't, you're still very welcome to leave one :))

I've been juggling my time mainly between uni and driving lessons these past few weeks, and it's been pretty busy!! I don't know, but time just seems to go so fast at the moment. Don't know how to fit everything in anymore :) This week and next week looks like it's going to be even busier, as I've got two exams coming up and haven't done much for either yet :) But last time I had an exam for one of the subjects, heaps of people failed it, so they marked it up one full point :) So if it goes like last time, I only have to study for a B to get an A anyway. I really like that idea :D

Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day, as I do not only have my theory-test for driving, but I also get to exercise my rights as a 'politically engaged' Dutch citizen for the first time and vote!! It's only local elections, but still... :) I took a photo of one of these posters all the political parties put up, which I thought was kind of funny. See below. It says "A better Netherlands starts in Hengelo" But they've got the same ones about Utrecht and Amsterdam and probably every single city or town in Holland :) So I'm not voting for them, they don't seem to know what they want ;)

Last week was kind of scary, because I had a four-hour driving lesson and it had been snowing heaps the day before, so the roads were a bit slippery. And just as I started driving, it started snowing heaps again!! So I was driving there, barely able to see beyond the two cars in front of me, getting hypnotised by the falling snowflakes I wasn't supposed to be watching anyway :) It's times like that, that I'm thankful there's still a driving instructor next to me keeping an eye out :) About 15 minutes later it stopped snowing luckily.

As it was a four-hour lesson, my driving instructor thought it was a good idea to go to Amsterdam and drive around there... Just for something different than Utrecht :) It was really fun to do that, but also kind of scary. Imagine this: little one-way streets with on your right side one long line of parked cars and on your left side a canal. And then there's me, who's still has a strong tendency to position herself in the middle of the road instead of the car, driving through those streets. And to make things more complicated, my driving instructor didn't really know his way around Amsterdam that well. So he bought a map, and as he was looking on the map trying to figure out where to go next, I was trying to figure out how not to hit those parked cars beside me without him checking on what I was doing :) It was really funny :) The lesson ended in the way it started: 15 minutes of massive snowfall, leaving me with poor vision again. I was glad to be home at the end of it all :)

Had another lesson this afternoon which wasn't as adventurous, although I had to practice forward and backward parking inbetween two cars... Didn't cause any damage just yet, but I don't know if that'll last if I have to do it all on my own :) I need a whole lot of practice at least :) But before I have to do my driving test, I first need to get my theory-certificate. And like I said, I'm going for that one tomorrow... Shouldn't be too hard, but you can only have 5 mistakes on the 50 questions, so you never know... I've been preparing for it all weekend though, so I should be alright :)

So that's what's going on in my life at the moment. Driving and uni :) Trying to keep up a social life inbetween as well, but not really succeeding at that right now apart from long after-dinner conversations and the occasional movie with my flat mates :) I hope you're all well and know that I miss you guys...
