So before I get on to future plans, let's just go back to a bit of what's been going on the past few weeks. To cut a long story short, it would simply be uni, birthdays and making travelling plans. But who am I kidding here, I know I can't cut long stories short :) So here's the somewhat longer version...
Almost two weeks ago I had my good friend Yves' 21st birthday. He lives all the way up north of the country in the city of Groningen, so me and another good friend of mine, Rick, went up there together in the afternoon. Hadn't seen either of them for a while, so it was coowl catching up :) In the evening lots of other friends of Yves came to celebrate, and we all had a great time!! Caught up with Sascha, a girl I had once met on this summer camp I went on years ago, and that's always good. She's really nice and we always only meet on Yves' birthday somehow, so there's a whole year to catch up on :) The party was a bit crazy at points, there were lots of really drunk people, but it was good times!! No photos unfortunately, as my camera decided to no longer fulfill his duties a few days earlier. Just as my roommates and me were picking up our other roommate Li-Shi from Schiphol airport, as she returned from 6 months of uni exchange... But anyway, seeing Li-Shi again was heaps of fun too, especially coz she didn't even know we were all coming to pick her up, so she was completely overwhelmed :) We had made her a huge banner and everything... Awesome :)
The week that followed went by pretty uneventful, apart from tickets being booked for our Oz trip!! Yes, some of you may not have heard about the plans before, but you read it right, I'm coming back Down Under!! In a town near you this summer, haha. Or your winter actually, but it's my summer holidays though... I'm coming over with my fam for 6 weeks, as it's my parents' 30th wedding anniversary this year and they wanted an excuse to go on a family holiday just one more time :) No complaints from me!! We're doing about 2 1/2 weeks of Perth and surrounding area end of July/beginning of August with a huge camper van, then on to a 5-day organised camping trip in the center, Alice Springs, Uluru, that sort of thing... Should be awesome :) And from Alice Springs we're then flying across to Melbourne, yay :) That will be the 14th of August, and then 4 days later my sis and her boyfriend will be flying back to Holland, while my parents will fly up to Byron Bay to visit my auntie there on the same day. And I'll stay till the end of the month!! The whole trip is so exciting :) I really can't wait!! See the westcoast, see the rock again, and most excitingly, see you guys again :) Will be a trip to remember :)
Before I knew it, the weekend came around again, and again there were a few birthdays to be celebrated. Saturday was a busy day!! Had my grandmother's birthday, and all my aunties, uncles and cousins were there, so that was pretty good!! All the cousins got together and we played Risk, it's almost becoming a tradition, haha. I got wiped off the board completely though :( But it was okay, coz pretty soon after I was totally defeated, we left my granny's b'day to go over to Paul (my sis' boyfriend) for his 27th birthday. Good times :)
So about the exciting plans of this coming weekend... (I've been keeping you in suspense long enough now, haha). Tomorrow night I'll be on a plane to Cardiff, Wales, to visit my dear friend Lea there!! And I'm really looking forward to it :) Now Lea is at an international college in Cardiff, and they're having some kind of UN simulation this weekend and I actually get to participate in it too!! Apparently I've been put into the Crisis Committee and I'm representing Iraq. I don't have much of an idea of what exactly I'm required to do, but I think it's going to be lots of fun all the same :) And either way, I'm just heaps excited to see Lea again after so long, catch up on everything, spend the weekend with her... It's going to be great, no doubt :) And I bought a new camera this week, so I'll be able to make lots of random photos again during the weekend, which I definitely will. I love taking photos, but I'm sure most of you already knew that, haha.
Well, I truly hope you're all enjoying the things you are doing. Summer holidays are probably over pretty soon for all of you, if you've still got them now to begin with... Hope you all loved Australia Day, fired up the barbie true Ozzie style or did whatever else your Australia Day tradition is :) I'll see you all soonish, and Lea love, I'll see you even sooner :) Can't wait!!
Love Carine
