Cars and couches

I know, right... another blog? Weeks and weeks of silence and then all of a sudden two within almost a week? What can I say, sometimes you feel like writing, sometimes you don't. I guess I didn't feel like it for a while, and now somehow I do. And today I want to write about cars and couches. And beds, coz when you're a uni student living out of home you don't have much space and therefore not every one of us has the luxury of having a bed AND a couch in their own room :) It sounds stupid, I know, but that's what I feel like writing about right now. And sharing it with you.

So let's start with cars. One day I'd like to do a long road trip. Maybe a friend beside me, music on and go. Some of my best memories were made on the road. Nothing else you can do but talk, sleep or sing along to the music! I don't know, there's always something magical about being on the road for a long drive and stopping at random places along the way. And if you have no set destination, there's never the issue of 'are we there yet?' You're already 'there', or you'll never get 'there', wherever that may be. Besides, it's always good to come home afterwards and have so many new stories to tell. Now that's where the couches come in...

I think couches are underrated! I believe that couches are great memory makers :) Coz couches are places to have good talks. To really get to know someone, or what's going on in their lives and their heads. Nothing beats a great comfy couch shared with a friend or friends and their stories. Or actually, it doesn't even have to be a comfy couch (the cheap couches or beds with extra cushions that double as couches in student accommodation aren't usually the most comfy ones around) as long as those friends and their stories stay :)

I guess that means cars and couches are some of my favourite places to be... Does that make me weird? Maybe it does. But when I get my first proper place, I'll make sure I'll have a great comfy couch. Right after I buy a big double bed, haha. I guess I don't always need big dreams to be happy. Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I do. That I need to travel around the world and do great things along the way. That I should find a solution to big world problems, like (gender) inequality, or AIDS, or climate change. But I don't. As long as I know I'm doing the best I can to contribute to a better world in my own small way, a comfy couch and a big double bed can be very exciting too :) Something to look forward coming home to right after that road trip. Anyone care to join me on one some day? We can make more memories together...
