Remember Haiti...

I'm always amazed about the international response to natural disasters. We've had a national appeal to donate for Haiti on radio and TV all day today, trying to move as much people as possible to give money for the many many people affected by the horrific earthquake just over a week ago. I always find these things fascinating. That these appeals are organised and that they work, but also that they seem to be necessary for people to donate. Apparently a lot of people need to be able to relate in some way to the tragedy, need to hear the personal stories behind the stories on the news... I guess I'm no different. Somehow it felt like some sort of betrayal to listen to something else on the radio, watch something else on TV today. Or maybe that's just me, I don't know. But if you haven't donated yet, here's my appeal: I know there are always good causes that could do with more money, but if you have some money to spare, Haiti is definitely one of them that no doubt needs the money much more right now than you do.

Apart from what's been happening in the world, there have of course been some happenings in my little corner of the world lately as well. The new year has started pretty good so far, and it only promises to be better. But more about that some other time... First, I'm going to have a good night's sleep now, as I'm going to Amsterdam tomorrow morning to meet up with three lovely Aussie girls who I, for once, will be able to show a little snippet of my tiny country and my life in Holland like they've shown me so much of theirs. I couldn't be more excited :) Hope you all had a good start to 2010 as well! And remember Haiti...
