Graduated tourist reports...

But then somehow I currently find myself in Prague. Well not somehow, really. I planned it and I flew here last night. But it was a relatively spontaneous thing. My dear friend Kim, who I met while at Vermont, is doing a Europe trip at the moment. So I invited her to come to my graduation ceremony of last week, which she took me up on. And she invited me to join her on any part of her trip if I wanted to, and I took her up on that :) Which is how I ended up at Schiphol airport twice in one week!
It all started last week Wednesday, when I went to pick up Kim from the airport. She arrived quite late at night due to a two hour delay, so sleep was what was definitely needed before anything else. A lazy day of catching up followed on Thursday, before my graduation day arrived early on Friday. That was a very cool day :) It started very early for a graduation (9am), but it was fun all the same. My thesis supervisor made a lovely speech about me, saying I was a headstrong, surprising and masterly master. I had broken the rule that limited the amount of people I could invite to my graduation by about 5 people, which meant I had a group of 10 people coming to support me. So lovely :) Eight of us had a celebratory lunch later that day, which was very nice as well. All in all, I had a great day :)
The celebrations for my graduation didn't end on graduation day though. I had a lovely party with friends on Saturday. Good times were had :)
Another lazy after party day followed, and then Kim and I decided to squeeze in just a little bit of sightseeing in Holland before Kim left my little country behind again and we were off to Prague. And what better place to sightsee than at Madurodam, a miniature city in The Hague that has all the Dutch sights replicated on a 1:25 scale. I have to admit, I was quite excited too :) We had a lovely sunny day for it, and it was so much fun walking around Madurodam, feeling like a giant. After Madurodam we made our way to Scheveningen beach for a nice and refreshing stroll along the shoreline. Refreshing mostly because of the cold wind we had that day, as you'll be able to see from the photos that I'll try and upload later this week. And just to pack it in, we also made a short stop at the Dutch parliament buildings, called 'Het Binnenhof'. How's that for touristy! It was great fun :)
The touristy day in The Hague on Monday was all good practice for the day we just had in Prague today. We arrived here late last night, which meant we didn't have any time to explore the city until today. So after our quest for nice umbrellas this morning (we've had rain all day today unfortunately, but luckily we eventually did manage to buy nice, matching umbrellas :)) we did a free walking tour to get a sense of all the sights to see and all the things to do here in the next couple of days. And despite the rain, I can definitely say Prague is a beautiful and interesting city that I'm looking forward to exploring more in the next 2 and a half days I have left here. Tomorrow we're planning on going to Kutna Hora and the Bone Chapel for the day and then Friday we'll probably be exploring the Prague Castle a bit more and whatever else we can fit in that day. Anything we can't fit in and still really want to see we'll probably do on Saturday morning. So it's going to be a packed couple of days here in Prague, but I'm excited about them :) For now I'll leave you with a whole lot of love, and I hope you're all well and enjoying whatever is keeping you busy.
xx
